10 09 2007 - Back in the 20th Century for those in the ICT industry the word "infrastructure" meant communications networks - wireline and wireless - as well as data centres, software, routers, bandwidth, computing, the Internet and so on.
While for the rest of the world it usually meant buildings, roads, railways, airlines, shipping, pipelines, utility and energy grids, factories, hospitals, financial services and perhaps, to a few people, telecoms and ICT as well.
But that's all changing. These worlds are converging and, as they do, they are becoming more and more intelligent and the world is getting smarter.
